Probate Filing Fees

Wisconsin sets probate filing fees by statute (Wis. Stat. 814.66). The petition fee for an estate of a deceased person is $20 if the net value of property subject to administration is $10,000 or less, otherwise 0.2 percent of the net value subject to administration; the fee is paid at the time the inventory or other document setting net value is filed. Statutory probate certificate fees are $3 each, copies are $1 per page, and a will filed for safekeeping is $10. Verify the current amount with the Marathon County Register in Probate before relying on a figure.
