Montgomery County Tax Department collects county real-estate taxes and real-estate taxes for Biscoe, Star, Candor, and Mount Gilead; Troy collects its own taxes. The county also collects Lake Tillery, Badin Lake, and Wadeville fire district taxes. County guidance says taxes are due September 1 and are not past due until January 5. Online or phone payment is routed through Official Payments or 1-800-2PAY-TAX with jurisdiction code 4373, and the service provider charges a fee. Verify estate payoff, refunds, delinquent status, payment timing, portal fees, municipal tax routing, and whether an online balance is complete before product-facing use.
